Mac Quad #1

Clockwise from top left: Twinks, Sable, All That Glitters, Jest

Okay, I finally caved and got a MAC palette. I did wuss out a bit and didn’t get the 15 palette, mainly because of logistics – that 15 palette ain’t travel-sized ya know – but I  am super happy with the quad I’ve created.

Back to the shade selection, how was I ever to choose… Already being a devoted Satin Taupe fan that was out of the question, so I began my quest to put together a shading palette that would suit my rather awkward hazel eyes. Throw the pale skin into the mix and safe to say I was on a mission, a pretty inconvenient mission where I can’t go too silvery or too warm. Cue many hours swatching and testing in MAC!

Okay so I tested and wanted Sketch, a beautiful burgundy brown with a very slight shimmer – I loved it, but after a month of going in to my local Leeds MAC and still not being to get hold of it, I eventually gave up and looked at other shades. It’ll definitely be going into my 15 palette when I finally go for it but for now, I’ve gone for other options.

Left to Right: Twinks, Jest, Sable, All That Glitters

For my two base colours, I’ve gone for a light peachy, pink (Jest) and slightly more rose gold, bronze (All That Glitters) option – both beautiful washes or bases on their own, or used together as part as a more night time look. Next I wanted Sable in my collection, a light golden plummy bronze – a perfect in-between day–to–night shade that works well on the outer corner or similarly as a wash for day time.  Finally, to take place of the ever illusive Sketch, I went for Twinks. As you might be able to tell, I love a slight shimmer and find them far easier to work with so this definitely fitted the bill. It’s a deep plummy brown (can you see a pattern developing?) and looks gorgeous on the crease of a smouldering eye.

Here’s a pic of the look you can create with this palette – I think it works perfectly as a self contained eye palette but let me know what you think! Any suggestions what I should add to my 15 palette when it arrives? I’d love to hear them J
