Six Truly Kiss–Proof Lips

With Valentines arriving at the end of this week, I thought it'd be a good time to discuss kiss-proof lip products which also look fabulous (way better than just a practical slick of lip balm). Not just kiss-specific by any means, they are by far the most practical lip products in my collection and require minimum effort and mirror-checking. The way I see it, you have two options... If you're going quite neutral, you can do anything really from a lipstick to a gloss but you just need formula that has zero stickiness and a nice smooth feeling. If you're going darker, you need something way more hardwearing, something stubborn yet gorgeous looking even with all the drinking, eating and occasional smooching. Challenge outlined, let's begin!

MAC Cremesheen Lipglass in Just Superb

MAC Cremesheen Lipglasses are my all time favourite lip gloss – they are unbelieveably comfortable to wear and the neutrals all look stunning on the lips. Personally, I like to avoid the very glittery ones but go for those with a hint of colour – a your lips but better shade but with enviable glossiness added. The staying power is not the best with this – you'd get a couple of hours but the benefits are it looks beautiful while it's there, it never looks dodgy if it's rubbing off and it's so easy to apply that one surreptitious sweep and you're good to go again.

YSL Glossy Stain in #16

This lip product is definitely one of my favourites of all time – it's just so damn amazing. I definitely think you have to go for the darker colours to get the benefits of these Glossy Stains, otherwise the 'stain' part just doesn't work at all. Pick the right shade though, and you're in for a real treat! This stuff does not budge – easily lasts all day – eating, drinking, come what may! The great thing about it is that if it does start coming off after about 5 hours, you're left still with the most gorgeous moisturised lips with the beautiful colour of the stain still definitely present – it doesn't look like somethings faded, it looks like you intended it to look that way! One thing with these is you absolutely cannot have dry lips or you will see the stain cling to the dry bits – not pretty, but just check out the minimal kiss print in my highly scientific test down below...

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup

Firstly, I must mention that I won this lipstick just last week from the lovely Evelyn at AllaboutEve's (she's fab, definitely check her out!) and it's such a good shade! She swore it was her go-to favourite for day-to-day and I can see why, it's been mine since it arrived in the post. Once again, it's the incredible Cremesheen formula which I think makes it so great! It's got that little bit of moisture which makes it very comfortable to wear, especially compared to some other MAC lipsticks I have which can be very drying (and I can feel awkward wearing them to be honest). Wear time is a solid 3 hours I'd say but it will move about/fade off with drinking etc – but again, with the light colour it has a discreet fade and is very quick and easy to top up. It also smells/tastes like vanilla – bonus!

Urban Decay Naked Lipgloss in Streak

Well, well, well. Yes, I went for it and purchased one of the new Naked Lipglosses from Urban Decay and I have to say, I think the formula is a pretty exact match for the MAC Cremesheens which is great news, especially as they are marginally cheaper! As you may or may not know, the Naked lipglosses are a range of nude shades but I actually picked up Streak, probably the least nude of them all. With the gorgeous coral tint and a fruity almost papaya and sweets scent, I couldn't help but tempt Summer to come a little quicker! Obviously, I love the formula of these for all the same reasons as the MAC Lipglass – I think this shade did come off slightly worse in the kiss print test however. Nonetheless – a fabulous new product with the desirable, 'barely there' feeling.

Urban Decay Ultra Nourishing Naked Lipgloss – £14

Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

A recent discovery for me, I am actually pretty impressed by these Revlon Lip Butters, and I find my shade Peach Parfait is perfect for adding a nice slick of colour and life to my face, without being too pinky. Out of all my picks, this one moves about the most on the lips but that's because it's so damn moisturising with the effect of a very glossy balm. If you're going to be eating, drinking etc I would definitely go for the paler shades – I'd be worried to try a darker shade than this unless I was going to be available for constant check ups!

Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter – £7.99

Nars Velvet Matt Lip Pencil in Never Say Never

What can I say – this pencil is just magic! The Nars Matt Pencils just stays put so perfectly on your lips and I absolutely love the fact that being a pencil, I feel like you get really good control of creating a nice lip line which I tend to need. Out of all the products, this one definitely came up best in the kiss-print test, it's barely detectable at all so you needn't worry about getting it all over someone's, errr,  face. The colour selection is beautiful and the formula is pretty hard to budge, but I'd occasionally check when you can as if it does fade it'll likely do so in the middle leaving you with the tell tale ring around the edge. Again, I'd make sure your lips are in good condition for this one, but that extra scrubbing will all be worth it!

Kiss Print Test: MAC Lipglass – YSL Glossy Stain – MAC Lipstick – Naked Lipgloss – Revlon Lip Butter – Nars Pencil

I really hope you liked my picks and I'd love to hear what your favourite lip products are, which shades I should try next or what you'll be sweeping on this Valentines?

Hope you all have a wonderful time, single or taken :)
